BF6 Players Are Convinced: Missions Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's toughest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.

Players have started using custom matches created through the custom game tool to complete them, emphasizing just how arduous these missions have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. It features four types of assignments, but while the majority merely grant outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of acquiring twelve from the forty-one key firearms present in the game.

A number of these gated guns may soon make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

A different forum member pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, within the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons

This is tough enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and possibly a classic map at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

But when completing the missions in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for completing them in a custom game so allies are not impaired?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

For now, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these demanding battlefield assignments, hoping for a less arduous gaming experience in future updates.
