Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak Since Brady Years with Win Over Jets
Rookie Henderson has tallied five scores during the current campaign
The New England Patriots tied their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady period as they beat AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The win bolsters the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The Jets had scored first at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard TD to conclude the Jets' first possession
But the New England responded in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21-7
"That was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Fields found John Metchie toward the end of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales booted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the victory
