Trevoh Chalobah Set to Take Over from Guehi in Three Lions Selection
Trevoh Chalobah followed his brother Nathaniel in representing England, emerging as the 21st pair of brothers to be selected for the national team.
Trevoh Chalobah is expected to be added to the England squad to fill in for unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.
The 26-year-old is set to meet up with the squad for England's remaining World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Albania, although it has yet to be officially announced.
The national side have already qualified for next summer's World Cup.
Chalobah was given his first invitation under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in May and then earned his first cap against Senegal.
In the month of September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unlucky to be excluded from the selection for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and additionally did not select him for the next October fixtures.
Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's development, having handed him his Chelsea first appearance in 2021.
Chalobah has appeared in almost every games for Chelsea this season, with the club in third place in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and in the group stage of the Champions League.
Guehi sustained a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Conference League win over the Dutch side in their last match.
There are set to be further inclusions to the selection. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will withdraw from the national team.
